Library Celebrates Banned Books Week 2024 Events

The LSC-CyFair Branch Library in Cypress, Texas, is celebrating Banned Books Week 2024. As part of the celebration, library visitors are encouraged to participate in a social media campaign. Patrons can take a selfie with the “I Read Banned Books” display, located across from the Library Reference Desk.
The following books, which have faced challenges and bans, are highlighted during the week:
- "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie
- "Trix" by Ellen Hopkins
- "Help, I'm Alive" by Mike Canto
- "Sold" by Patricia McCormick
- "Bible ABC" by Jessie L. Smith
- "Gender Queer" by Maia Kobabe
- "The Blessing" by Kim Harrison
- "Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen
- "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky
- "As I Lay Dying" by William Faulkner
The library encourages attendees to tag their social media posts with hashtags such as #BannedBooksWeek2024, #IReadBannedBooks, #AmericanLibraryAssociation, and #FreadBetweentheLines.
