The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has declared an Ozone Action Day for the San Antonio area on Friday, October 4. This designation is made in response to expected atmospheric conditions that may lead to high levels of ozone air pollution.

To help improve air quality, residents and businesses are encouraged to take the following actions:

- Refuel vehicles after 6 p.m.

- Avoid using drive-thrus at restaurants and instead go inside.

- Turn off vehicles rather than letting them idle.

- Adjust thermostats to be 2-3 degrees higher from 2-7 p.m. and maintain a setting of 78 degrees when away from home.

- Carpool or use public transportation.

- Combine errands to reduce the number of trips taken.
