North Port High School TSA Excels at National Competition

Reviewed by Todd Vandersline / NPlocal.org

The Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter at North Port High School recently competed at the National Conference and Competition in Orlando with 16 students participating in 23 events. The students, who qualified at the state competition in February, displayed composure, maturity, and pride in representing Bobcat and Florida.

Megan Taylor achieved a 3rd place finish in the nation in the Prepared Presentation category, while Hannah Aguilar, Zander Hilton, and Matthew Jakoby were recognized as national finalists in the Geospatial Technology event, securing a spot in the top 10 in the country. Additionally, Gabriella Austin, JC Tsourakis, Elizabeth Carpenter, Bella Ramsey, Hannah Aguilar, and Jayda Williams made it to the national preliminary round in Architectural Design, ranking among the top 24 competitors nationwide.

The students are now seeking professional mentors in several areas such as Architectural Design, Fashion Design, Parliamentary Procedure, Vehicle Design and Testing, Video Production, Print Publishing, Data Science, Robotics, and VR/Video Game Development. Ken Jakoby or Elysia Lord can be contacted for mentorship opportunities.

Furthermore, Woodland Middle School's mini chapter of Team Wormington achieved an impressive six Top 3 finishes at the competition, indicating a bright future for TSA in Sarasota County.
