Celebrate National Book Month This October!
Staff Report / jaxlocal.org
October is recognized as National Book Month, a celebration established by the National Book Foundation in 2003. This month aims to highlight the significance of reading, writing, and literature, as well as to pay tribute to beloved authors.
A historical photo from 1955 features staff at the Jacksonville Public Library engaged in cataloging books. In the image, from left to right, the employees are identified as Mrs. Mary Egan, Chief of Cataloging; C.J. Driggers; and Mrs. Mildred Montgomery, Assistant Cataloger.
The Jacksonville Public Library emphasizes its commitment to literacy initiatives and encourages the local community to foster a passion for reading. Community members are invited to share their favorite books in the comments section.
